How to compute a line integral on the TI89 using Calculus Made Easy and
in the Vector Calculus module?
Lets look at question 6 in the image below:
Disregarding i and j notation, we instead enter the following under F2 2 LIne Integrals:
[x,y] as variables used.
We have to create our own parametrization using the given points. Since we Line Integrals are independent of path (read more here http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcIII/FundThmLineIntegrals.aspx ) we choose
[t,3*t] which get as from 0,0 to 2,6 doesn’t it?
t is variable
[0,2] as t bounds . Double check that those t values get you from 0,0 to 2,6 using the above parametrization.
Voila , a computer algebra system verified the answer 24 . The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus just never fails, and so does Calculus Made Easy!
I leave question 7 as a challenge for you . Reply here if you know how 😉
